2020 Board Member Profiles

Current President - Jonathan Silk

Jonathan is an experienced leader and coach with a proven record of leading and developing others to perform at higher levels and improve their overall effectiveness. He is the founder and President of Bridge 3, LLC which provides organizational and leadership development services to organizations. He integrates his organizational leadership experiences with insight from his doctoral research at Pepperdine University to provide highly effective programs to Bridge 3 clients. Jonathan has expertise in team dynamics, leadership coaching, design thinking, organizational leadership and development, learning technology, and corporate training.  

Jonathan brings lessons from his experience serving as the Executive Director of Leader Development at the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) where he oversaw the leadership development and design thinking programs for faculty, staff, and students to prepare members of the UNTHSC team to lead effectively in higher education and collaborative healthcare team environments. He served as a faculty member in at the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY before transitioning from the Army. He is a decorated Veteran and established a record of high performance leading a variety of units in complex, volatile, and dynamic environments as a U.S. Army Officer. His combat experience includes serving as a Combat Advisor to the Afghan National Police in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and as a Cavalry Scout Platoon Leader during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies with a focus in Business Administration from Louisiana State University (Alexandria), an MBA from the University of Texas at Dallas, and an M.A. in Learning Technologies from Pepperdine University. He has completed both the External Executive Coaching residency program and the Advanced External Executive Coaching program at Columbia University. Jonathan is a design thinker and attended the Design Thinking executive course at the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design located at Stanford University.

President Elect - Jeremy Jameson

Jeremy Jameson has recently started his new career as a Talent Management and Development executive for a Fortune 500 company in the DFW area. Jeremy has demonstrated exceptional cultural and process improvement, talent development and engagement solutions and has excelled as a creative liaison across multiple organizational levels.

Jeremy retired from the US Navy as a Naval Flight Officer in 2018 where he was qualified as a Weapons and Tactics Instructor for the Navy and Air Force. He has over 2500 hours of flight time in multiple aircraft, a majority of which was during combat in the skies of Afghanistan and Iraq. The highlights of his 20 year career include serving as a tactical leader in two squadrons, teaching Leadership and Ethics to graduating seniors at Old Dominion University, directing Talent Management for the Tactical Support Wing and commanding the Navy Operational Support Center in Cincinnati, OH.

Past President - Gary Sidoti

In 1978, as a US Marine, I learned the trade of Electronics. In 1982 I used these skills as a Component Engineer, Buyer Planner to develop a streamlined materials management and purchasing system. In 1992 I moved into the world of Electronic Component Sales developing over $1,000,000 [back then that was a lot] in new business. In 2011 I moved from Connecticut to re-open the training department at TTI in Fort Worth.

Today, as veteran TTI employee with over thirty years of experience in the Electronics field my passion is to help others achieve their very best potential through teaching, training, coaching and mentoring. With many hats to wear I lead the talent development of our sales teams by creating eLearning, Webinars, classroom instruction and leadership training. Through ATD I can explore my ambition to learn more about talent development and to become part of an organization that focuses on this craft. By Serving as a volunteer and a board member, I have the opportunity to give part of what I have to others so that they may benefit as I am.

VP of Finance - Cindy Alderman

Cynthia (Cindy) Alderman has been a Senior Technical Editor/Instructional Designer-CPE for the Thomson Reuters Business Compliance and Knowledge Solutions team since 2008. Cindy is also a thought leader for Harbinger’s Raptivity product (Raptivity is a robust set of interactivities for online learning). She earned her BBA in Accounting degree from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Her 30 years of professional accounting experience includes twelve years for two small local CPA firms in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area; seven years in controller positions for several small privately-owned businesses in Dallas, Texas; five years as manager of financial and SEC reporting responsibilities for a small closely-held company in Dallas, Texas; and eight years as manager of financial and SEC reporting responsibilities for a large public filer in Fort Worth, Texas.

VP of Hospitality - Jessica Buhl

Jessica is an experienced facilitator and consultant with areas of focus in leadership development and sales enablement.  She has over ten years of experience in leadership and talent management for a Fortune 500 third-party logistics provider.  Throughout her career, she has led organizational change management programs and maintained leadership development programs in both the U.S. and the United Kingdom.  In 2018, she obtained her Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD) certification from ATD.  She is passionate about developing programs that empower and motivate others to perform at their very best.

Jessica is originally from Philadelphia, PA and now lives in Fort Worth with her husband and three children.  She enjoys traveling, long-distance running, and spending time with her family.

VP of Programs - John Wright

John served as VP of Programs in 2006 - 2007, President Elect in 2008, President in 2009 and currently serves on the Past President's Advisory Council.

John is President of Simple Leadership Strategies®, a management training and consulting firm based in Fort Worth that specializes in leadership development, team building, employee engagement and customer retention.

Having spent over thirty years studying, experimenting, developing and practicing some simple strategies that help organizations create leaders at every level, John is convinced that the world needs a transformation, and that organizations - both profit and non-profit - can play a far bigger role in helping society achieve its potential.

VP of Marketing - Samuel Apata

Samuel is a dedicated instructional designer with over 6 years of experience developing and retaining talent for organizations like T-Mobile, American Airlines, and currently GM Financial. Samuel has a graduate degree in Instructional Systems Design from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). He is well versed with creating motivational, meaningful, and memorable learning that deeply engage learners, develop skills, and inspire better performance. Samuel is also a regular contributor to the Articulate E-Learning Heroes Community where his projects have been featured multiple times. VP of Communications - Kristina Rogers

Kristina is an advocate for all things of the adult learner; always pushing for clarity of communications and interactive learning opportunities to enhance skill and knowledge. Her work incorporates her understanding (and fascination) of the growth mindset and mindfulness as a whole to better lead her learners to success.  She structures, creates, develops, and teaches curriculum that helps learners build from their past experiences, relate to their immediate present work, and authentically assess their efforts so they align with meeting future goals. 

She's an ever-growing student of all things regarding the English language, communications, and teaching/learning. She takes on the challenge of serving financial, aviation/aerospace, and technology companies by refining their external and internal instructor led training and systems training content, and technical documentation.
Presently Kristina is a Curriculum Specialist at Elevate and a weekend Adjunct Professor at Tarrant County Community College (teaching Business and Professional Communications).  Additionally, she has a small business, Letter and Marques, to which she transcribes audio (English and Spanish), translates documents (English/Spanish/Portuguese), edits and writes copy/content (English), and tutors (English).

VP of Membership - Lara Azcona

My purpose in my career is to help others to expand their vision of what is possible so that they may reach their fullest potential. My career has allowed me to teach algebra at the University of Kansas, enable manufacturing as a software engineer at National Semiconductor, develop quality systems and train consultants at Ernst & Young, teach math, computer science and business to teenagers, and most recently to prepare employees of a Fortune 500 energy company to embrace progress in the form of a major technology upgrade.

Last year as I prepared to return to my corporate career, leaving the public-school classroom, I found ATD. Because I live midway between Dallas and Fort Worth, I chose to join both ATD Dallas and ATD Fort Worth/Mid-Cities. I met fantastic people in both organizations and had the opportunity to co-chair SWLS, the ATD Dallas conference for learning professionals. At ATD Fort Worth/Mid-Cities, I attended every chapter meeting and special interest group (SIG) meeting that was offered from the time I joined in January through October and was never disappointed. The speakers at this group are among the absolute best of any professional organization in the metroplex. As a continuous learner, I can’t wait to see what’s in store for next year at ATD Fort Worth/Mid-Cities!

VP of Technology - Lorie Brown 

I came to Texas to go to college and spent many years in the fashion industry in Dallas, Seattle, Florida and New York. Training and mentoring co-workers was a running theme in all aspects of my career. After working in New York City for 10 years, I moved to northern California to officially begin my career in Talent Development. At Williams-Sonoma, Inc. I was part of a team that rolled out 3 major software launches, supported HR in New Hire Orientation and helped hundreds of people learn the company's culture, processes and systems.

I am happy to be back in the land of Y'all and look forward to continuing my career in Talent Development. I've been a member of the Fort Worth/Mid-Cities chapter for 3 years and look forward to a great 2020.

VP of Special Projects - Susan Wines

Susan Wines, eLearning Specialist, has over 20 years’ experience creating digital media-based courses at Thomson Reuters. Under the brand Checkpoint Learning, TR  helps CPAs meet their licensing requirements for continuing professional education (CPE). While Susan’s primary focus is agile improvement of tools and processes, she is also the author of four self-study courses for sale: (1) Branding Your Firm with LinkedIn; (2) Retention and Career Development Go Hand-in-Hand; (3)  Technology Add-ons to Increase Productivity; and (4) Trends in Performance Management.

VP of Records - Christi Doporto

Christi Doporto has over 19 years of corporate human resources experience, previously serving in the public and private sector for businesses in manufacturing, defense, airline, insurance, financial services, healthcare, and staffing. Her specialties include talent acquisition and development, facilitating training, performance management, organizational development, and coaching leaders. 

Christi holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication/Journalism from The University of Texas at Arlington. In addition, she earned her Master Degree in Organizational Management with a focus on Human Resources from Dallas Baptist University graduating Summa Cum Laude. Christi holds several certifications including, a Professional in Human Resources, along with a certification in Executive Coaching.

Christi is married to her college sweetheart, Louis. They reside in Fort Worth with their son, Gavin, and daughter, Alessandra. Aside from her HR career, Christi is a published fiction author of over 14 young adult and new adult romance novels. She recently wrote a children’s series, Zach’s Wars, with her son, Gavin, for children on the spectrum with learning disorders. When not reading leadership books or writing fiction books, Christi enjoys giving back to the community as a relationship/marriage coach, playing the piano, dancing and catching the latest Sci-Fi or superhero movie.

Director of Records - Candice Kibsgaard

Candice Kibsgaard is a native of Iowa.  A graduate of Iowa State University with B.S. in Psychology. She enjoyed a few years as a counselor in Iowa working with at-risk youth who were struggling with criminal behaviors. In that role she created treatment plans, facilitated group counseling, and oversaw daily activities. A relocation to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex changed her career trajectory. Candice is a twenty-year seasoned Finance professional with extensive experience in Mortgage Banking.  A versatile background within that arena she has worn many hats: Bankruptcy Paralegal, Project Specialist, Foreclosure Prevention Specialist, and Property Preservation to name a few. However, her last couple of roles in mortgage banking, as a Quality Control Analyst, made her turn her attention back to what she truly feels is her purpose;  coaching and aligning people with their strengths.

It may be difficult to see the correlation, however, her role as a Quality Control Analyst, was to make sure that the procedure helped you to arrive at the correct answer.  She derived the most happiness from creating job aides and/ or speaking with team members to develop specific processes that would allow them accurately and efficiently review their work.  She witnessed the sense of strength and autonomy when people had tools, that didn’t make them feel overwhelmed, and allowed them to draw their own conclusions. In her varied work career, she has been energized by people arriving at the desired result they are seeking when taking on any training endeavor. People want the tools to succeed.

This observation resulted in Candice going back to school to obtain her Instructional Designer Certifications and join the ATD Ft. Worth/Mid-Cities Chapter to grow her understanding of the industry, the language, and network with competent accountable professionals who care about their craft.

Director of Student Relations - Rochelle Harris

Rochelle is a graduate of Fisk University and has seven years of experience in the nonprofit and higher education sectors. She currently works in a sales training specialist role. Rochelle is an engaging presenter and facilitator who values collaborative learning. While working as a career coach at a local university, Rochelle was introduced to the world of talent and development.

She joined ATD in January of 2018 and has enjoyed immersing herself in all things related to learning and development. Rochelle is studying Instructional Systems Design at the University of North Texas to build her skillset as an Instructional Designer. As the Director of Student Relations, she looks forward to being a valuable resource for college students interested in our profession.
