An increasing number of individuals, corporations, and institutions are turning to eLearning as they recognize its effectiveness and its convenience. The global e-Learning market reached $107 billion in 2015, according to elearningindustry.com. They also reported that e-Learning accounts for 53% of training hours in 2015 (figure includes online/CBI and blended learning situations). To add value to these members, we are launching an e-Learning SIG (Special Interest Group) in February. No technology needed at this meeting, we will only be brainstorming.
This kickoff meeting will be to plan what we want to get out of our new SIG this year.
Some examples of e-learning aspects are:
- instructional design applications (Storyline, Lectora, Captivate, etc.)
- how to design self-paced courses for internet/intranet delivery
- selecting the best LMS
- computer-based instruction
- synchronous vs. asynchronous learning
- virtual learning environments
- cognitive load
These are just examples, so please come with ideas of what you would like to learn, but also think about an aspect of e-Learning in which you are already an expert and can share with the group. No matter if you’re an experienced guru, brand-new to e-Learning, or just exploring, you are welcome to attend and offer your ideas.
