"Leaving ADDIE for SAM"


Most instructional designers will argue that they used the time-tested ADDIE model to produce training programs, Leaving ADDIE for SAM will (one hopes) challenge them to think about some of the limitations and challenges of such a linear process and look to the iterative and collaborative opportunities afforded by SAM, the successive approximation model.

Dr. Richard Sites’ primary work focuses on the development of highly engaging learning experiences for our clients. He helps to maintain a positive and rewarding experience for clients by overseeing every phase of a project: content and business needs analysis, project management, instructional and visual design, technical development and quality assurance.

Working alongside Dr. Michael Allen, Allen Interactions’ founder, Richard has co-authored “Leaving ADDIE for SAM,” published by ASTD Press in September 2012. He has also supported the writing of three other books, the design of ASTD’s Advanced e-Learning Certification course, spoken at various national and regional conferences and contributes to the company’s marketing messaging. Richard takes a lead role in promoting the company’s instructional philosophy and vision.

With over 12 years in learning and performance consulting, Angel has produced, developed and led numerous projects designed to improve employee performance. Angel’s experience ranges from competency mapping, skill gap analysis, curriculum development, instructional design and training facilitation.

Angel is a contributor to the Allen Interactions thought leadership blog and newly developed video blog. She leads the company's Instructional Design Guild and has shared her insight on designing and implementing successful learning programs through webinars, case studies and conference sessions.
